The modes of
transport in Gondia district are roads and railways.

Roads

| National Highways |
The Mumbai-Calcutta
National Highway passes through the central part of the district.
Entering from Bhandara, it goes further towards Calcutta. Soundad, Sadak
Arjuni, Devri are the important places on the highway. One road goes
from Bhandara via Tirora and Gondia northwards to Balaghat in Madhya
Pradesh. Another road passes from Gondia through Goregaon, Sadak Arjuni,
Kohmara, Navegaon Bandh, to Gadchiroli. Besides, there are other roads
connecting the talukas and other important places in the district.

Railways

Line |
This is an important
rail-route passing through the district. The main railway stations on
this line are Tirora, Gondia, Amgaon, and Salekasa.

A second line goes from
Gondia to Jabalpur in the north and a third to Chandrapur in the south.
Hiradamali, Soundad, Devalgaon, (Navegaon Bandh), Arjuni Morgaon, etc.
are the main railway stations on this line.

Gondia is the hub of all
roadways in the district and is also a railway junction.

Rice, firewood, timber,
bidis, tiles, oil, tendu leaves, lac, gum, etc. are sent out from the
district. Salt, tea, sugar, kerosene, fertilizers, petrol,
motor-vehicles, cloth, bicycles, machines parts, medicines, etc., have
to be brought from other places.
