NATURAL WEALTH


Gondia district is mostly covered by forests. There are more forests in the high hilly regions. There are thick forest in the hilly  areas of Gangazari, Darekasa, Navegaon, Chichgad as also in Pratapgad ranges.

The trees in the forests are teak, bamboo, ain, tendu, hirda, palas (flame of the forest), moh, anjan, etc. Some fruit trees such as bor, custard apple, mango, tamarind, amla, jambul  etc. growing every where.

Tigers, leopards, sambar, deer, gava, nilgai and other wild animal are seen in the forests of the district. We also find birds such as peacoks, parakeets and jungal fowl.

Minerals

Mineral wealth in some places in the district. Iron ore is found in Khursipar and Ambetalav in Goregaon taluka. There are deposits of granite stone in Amgaon and Deori talukas.
