LANDS FORMS


There are different types of land forms in this district. Most of the district is covered by the river basins of the Vingaga river basin  much of its tributaries. Gondia district lies in the Vingaga river basins. Much of its area is hilly. The hills of Navegaon are in the south and the Gaikhuri hills are in the north-western part of the district. The region of the Navegaon hills is the highest in the district.

The different lands forms in a region constitute its physical set-up of Gondia district, see the following two physical divisions. 

Physical Division

 
The Hilly region

The north-western-eastern and southern parts of the district are hilly. The Gaikhuri hill ranges are in the north-west. The other ranges in this region are the Gangazari and Koka. The Darekasa and Chichgad  ranges occupy the eastern parts. Navegaons hills are in the Sadak Arjuni taluka while the Pratapgad ranges are in the Arjuni Morgaon taluka in the south.

The Plains

The Bagh and the Pangoli rivers flow through the northern part of the district while the Chulband flows through the central and the Gadhvi, through the southern part of the district. As a result, the northern, western and southern parts of the district are a region of plains.
